After it has dried get a new screw that is not stripped and screw it in the hole that was repaired.

Then bore out the stripped holes with a 3 8 inch diameter bit. Sometimes you might end up with this. The best way to beef them up is to replace the standard 3 4 in. Give the hole time to dry before you replace the screws and hinge. Measure 3 4 above the old single screw hole and mark a line as well as 3 4 below.

You unscrew the hinge screws from both the door jam and door. You put on the new hinges with the screws that came with them. Some of the hinge screws tighten and some of them don t. Screws that go through the jambs and solidly anchor into the framing.

Remove the screws for one of the hinges on both the door and the frame. With a screwdriver put the rest of the screws into the hinge and the holes. Remove the hinge from the face frame and prepare the frame to receive new screws from the new hinges. If the hinge and jamb are painted cut the paint around the leaf with a utility knife swing the leaf away from the jamb.

Turn the new hinge with the head of the pin turned up. If the door has a large hinge with four screw holes just drive 3 in. Pre drill with a 3 32 drill bit to prevent splitting or breaking the head off the screw when securing the new hinge. Screws straight through the two holes toward the center of the door.
